Woman cries out after ‘Canadian’ based boyfriend wiped her account
A Nigerian lady has cried out for help after a supposed Canadian based businessman she met on Instagram stole her money, food and other items few days after she welcomed him to Nigeria for their wedding preparation.
The lady who refused to give her name said she is currently traumatized.
She narrated that they dated online for over one year before he returned to Nigeria on December 11th for the Christmas celebration and perform the marital rite before January when he is due to return to Canada.
According to her, “I was suppose to pick him up from the airport upon his arrival at the terminal but he didn’t give me details of his flight. It was on the day he said he arrived that he called to tell me to come pick him at a fast food joint that he’s waiting for me me there which I went.
“After seeing him, he suggested we lodge in hotel till he’s ready to go home to his parents. Considering my business and season sales and I run cosmetics and hair shop which is popular in Magodo. I suggested he come over to my house and stay since it’s very convenient.
“I’ve been the one making sure his food is ready because according to him, he needs to re-activate his Nigeria accounts to access funds and he doesn’t have much dollars on him and I never complained because it was not too much for me to do. I just got home yesterday and I didn’t see him at home. I was going to call him before I saw series of debit alerts.
“I went to check my debit card to know what’s going on but it wasn’t in my handbag where I usually keep it. Due to cash scarcity, I keep any cash I lay hand on in my house, but it’s also missing even my expensive wigs and jewelleries. He ransacked my house in my absence. You know when I got home and saw the doors/burglary unusually locked, I thought he went out to get something he needs which was why I opened the door with my own key not knowing he has dealt with me. My preserved food in the freezer, my raw food items even the beverages he packed more than 80% of them. I am so bittered at the moment.
“He has restricted me on all social media handles of his, his number is switched off. I have also tried with my neighbour’s phone but same thing. My neighbour said he saw him leaving but he told him he was going to my office and go from there and he will be back. My neighbour said the guy was even answering calls as though he was in touch with me. His supposed friend he introduced to me over the phone that lives in Canada too, I can’t find him again on social media. His acclaimed twin brother is not taking or responding to my calls and messages. The things he took aren’t my worry but, the millions that have left my account. I just managed to block my card online.”
