Sketchy details have emerged on why
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, suspended Chairman of Local Government Service Commission, Damien Lawani and the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Hon Samson Osagie.
An official statement said both men were suspended for alleged ‘grave official and financial infractions.’
It was gathered that Governor Okpebholo suspended Lawani after he was briefed about about local government funds transferred to his account.
Another source said the Governor was peeved at the allegations leveled against the Osagie.
A top government officials said the Governor suspended both officials due to political situation in the state.
Secretary to the Edo State Government, Umar Ikhilor, in a statement, said Governor Okpebholo ordered an investigative committee to be set up to investigate the allegations and make appropriate recommendations.
The statement explained that the suspension of both Osagie and Lawani was to enable a thorough investigation into the allegations leveled against them.
It said both men are to remain suspended pending conclusion of investigation.
