Ondo man ends seven years marriage after DNA test
An Ondo State Customary Court sitting in Igoba-Osi, Akure North Local Government Area has ended the seven years marriage between Mr. Kofi Ajayi and Opeyemi Popoola.
The court ended the marriage after the wife admitted to having an affair with her boss and having two children from the affair.
Her husband had conducted DNA test on their two children and the rest returned negative.
Ajayi had informed the court that he conducted the test flowing widespread rumours that his wife was having an affair with her boss.
“People said the children were not mine but hers and her boss’s. I didn’t believe it until a market woman said she saw them in a compromising position inside his car one night.
“She was always moody and took out her frustrations on me. I remained calm because I thought it was a phase most women go through.
He said he noted strange phone calls by her wife but opted to ignore them in a bid to preserve peace in the home.
The wife admitted to having secured her job through sexual favours and confessed to maintaining a relationship with her boss in exchange for money and career benefits.
She confessed, “I couldn’t tell Kofi the truth about the pregnancy because my boss was a married man and I feared I would lose both the job and the child’s support if I opened up.”
In her ruling, Presiding Magistrate, Ireti Sunday, who granted dissolution of the marriage, said there was need for communication in marital relationships to prevent irreparable breakdowns.
