Ondo 2024: Do not be intimidated, Ajayi tells PDP youths
Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State governorship election, Hon Agboola Ajayi, has charged youths of the party not to be intimidated by what he termed antics of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Hon Ajayi urged the youths not to be afraid of any threat of arrest but to campaign to voters on the need to vote for the PDP.
Ajayi spoke in Akure during a retreat for for youths leaders of the party from across the 203 Wards in the state.
He challenged the youths to learn from his political trajectory saying he conquered poverty at the age of 22.
The former Ondo Deputy Governor urged the PDP youths to take charge of the electioneering campaign for total victory at the polls.
According to him, “We have seen signals, we have seen their plans and we are not scared of any intimidation because this is our state, what is going to happen is that people will go out and vote, we are not scared of anybody. Once our people conduct themselves in a peaceful manner, you can’t take away their rights to vote for whoever they want to vote for.
“I have always advised them that they must not allow any reflection to frustrate them and they must conquere poverty and they will do that by their votes.
“We have prepared for them and we are ready for them, we would resist any act of the intimidation by any opposition in this state. Forget about the power of any incumbency, the power of masses is more than any incumbency power.
“If you are not irritated by the situation, then there is no hope. We can have a better life for our children. We are coming to every ward and every unit. They cannot rig this election. The people are waiting for the PDP. Let us go out and talk to the people. Threats of arrest are part of politics. Do not be intimidated. Nothing can happen to you. You are going there to cast your vote and exercise your rights.
“I conquered poverty at 22. If I can get to this level anyone of you can be governor of Ondo State.”
Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Ondo PDP, Hon Bakkita Olofowobi Bello, appealed to the youths not to betray the party by yielding to inducement.
Chairman of the Campaign Council, Dr. Eddy Olafeso, said the party was focused on winning the election.
Demands of the youths, included 65 percent slot in appointments, adequate funding and provision of all necessary materials needed at the polls.
“We are ready to end bad governance through protest votes which will lead us to Alagbaka. We are ready to mobilise votes. There must be a reward to the youths.
“We also plead for gainful employment and laudable empowerment. We do need empowerment that can change people’s lives.”
