Kidnapping: Ondo CP warns Fulani leaders in Owo

Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Wilfred Afolabi, has cautioned Fulani leaders in Ijebu-Owo, Owo local government area, against habouring criminals under the guise of tribal affiliation.
Afolabi spoke when he held security meeting with the Fulani leaders as part of his effort to strengthen its Community Safety Partnership amongst residents of the state,
The Ondo CP said he was present at the meeting to discuss how the security of the State would not be compromised.
Afolabi urged the Fulani community to actively participate in the security of the State and complement the Police efforts by providing genuine information that would help rid the state of criminal activities, particularly kidnapping.
He called fot peaceful co-existence between herders and farmers saying peace and security were essentials for business growth.
Afolabi further cautioned against encroachment and grazing into farmlands area.
On their part, the Fulani leaders assured the CP of their commitment to peaceful co-existence and promise never to cover, engage in or support any criminal activity that could destabilize the State.
They promised to support the Police by providing information that would help nip crime and enhance security in the area.
Meanwhile, personnel of the Ondo State Police Command have been trained on crime mapping and nipping.
The training, according to the police spokesman, Funmilayo Odunlami, was to enhance crime detection in the state.
Odunlami said the training included use of modern day equipment to detect crime within Area of Responsibility (AOR) using technological techniques learnt and strategic deployment of resources.
She said participants were engaged through practical sessions and were taught how to gather and process information into Intelligence.
Odunlami said the Ondo Police Commissioner urged the trainee to apply knowledge acquired at the training into their daily policing activities.
She added thay the CP urged officers to remain professional in their approach to crime prevention and law enforcement saying nipping crime has its methodology that should be brought to bare to enhance crime detection.
