I rejected my father-in-law’s N50,000 offer to sleep with him, says housewife
A trader in Ondo State, Oluwatoyin Ibikunle, has narrated before an Akure Customary Court how she refused to sleep with her father in-law for N50,000.
Olawatoyin, who filed a petition for the dissolution of her 15 years old marriage, said she was constantly abused by her husband, Ayodeji, a vulcanizer.
She told the court that her husband had turned her into a punching bag.
The mother of three said her husband had earlier told her to leave their home.
She alleged that her father-in-law had offered her ₦50,000 for her to have an affair with him.
“He is irresponsible and keeps threatening my life. I can’t take it anymore,
“I moved out deliberately because I couldn’t endure his beatings anymore. My father-in-law even advised me to quit the marriage because of the suffering I’m facing.
“The love is gone. I want custody of my children to give them a proper upbringing.”
Her husband, who denied the allegations, said his wife was already other men.
“She left our home and rented an apartment. I tried to reconcile with her, but she refused unless I refunded her landlord’s payment. I managed to pay ₦15,000 out of the ₦20,000 she requested, but she still refused to return. I can’t live without her.
“All she cares about is her business and her relationships with other men.”
President of the court, Abiodun Obademi, appealed to the couple to reconsider their decision for the sake of their children.
He adjourned the case to January 28, 2025, for further hearing.
