
Owo Resident Doctors seek release of kidnapped colleague after seven months
The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) of the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Owo, has cslled on the federal government and relevant security agencies to expediate action on the release of Dr. Ganiyat Popoola.
President of the ARD FMC Owo, Dr. Asunloye Olufemi Adesola, who led the protest, said it was to show colleague with Dr. Popoola.
Dr. Aunloye stated that it was heartbreaking for their colleague to remain in the kidnappers’ den for over seven months.
Dr. Popoola was abducted on December 27, 2023 and has remained in captivity.
According to him, “We’re not asking for too much; we just want her to be freed. Dr. Ganiyat is our sister, colleague, mother, and dedicated doctor who has devoted her life to helping others medically. Her prolonged abduction is unacceptable. An injury to one is an injury to all.”
