Army decorates Ugwoke, Irabor with new ranks
Two newly promoted Captains serving at the 32 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army, have been decorated with the ranks of a Major
The former Captains are Major Norbert Ugwoke and Major Njoka Irabor.
They were decorated with their new ranks at the Officers’ Mess of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Owena Cantonment, Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Speaking at the event, Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier-General John Lar, urged the two newly promoted senior officers to prioritise welfare of soldiers under their command.
Brigadier-General Lar advised them not to kick against any new posting
He reminded them that they should not expect to be forgiven for any untoward behaviour as. Major in the Army.
According to him, “When you attain the rank of a Major, nobody forgives you for any untoward behaviour. The character you have as a Mhaor will see you through
“This is an opportunity to change if you have any untoward character. Do not work or lobby any posting because you do not know who you will meet there. Somebody you meet there might change your story. You must know how to manage your superiors.
“There is no redemption if anything happen to you as a Major. No second chance. The best officer is the one who knows how to manage Superiors. Know how to manage your subordinate. You are now to put the welfare of your men first and they will put in their best for you.”
The new officers said they would put in their best in their new ranks.
Senior officers present included Lieutenant Colonel Yahaya Ardo, Chief of Staff, Headquarters 32 Brigade; Lieutenant Colonel Umar Barau, Commanding Officer, 323 Artillery Regiment; and Lieutenant Colonel Kyari Babakura, Garrison Commander, 32 Brigade.
